Meet Torryn Carter, Freshmen Class Coordinator

I am Torryn Carter, a sophomore, Political Science major from Louisville, KY. My Bonner site this past academic year was KIPP Strive, a local middle school in which I spent time mentoring students and helping out faculty of the school. 

I serve as the Freshmen Class Coordinator and I look forward to implementing more service initiatives to greater impact the AUC Community and the West End of Atlanta.

Meet Charles Porch III, Freshmen Class Coordinator

My name is Charles Porch III, a junior business management major at Morehouse College. I was born and raised in Lithonia, Georgia and graduated from Abrabia Mountain High School in 2016. 

As a bonner, I have the pleasure to serve at M. Agnes Jones Elementary School and this is my second year as the Freshmen Class Coordinator. 

For this upcoming year I plan to work with the freshmen class to come up with new servicee ideas that will leave an impact on larger scale.

I am Joshua McCalla, a junior kinesiology major from Decatur, Georgia. I am a third generation Morehouse College student, and I serve as the sophomore class coordinator. A question that each and everyone should think about coming into Morehouse is:

Meet Nathaniel Green, Junior Class Intern

My name is Nathaniel Green, a junior, Political Science major from Washington DC. My Bonner Community Service is Raising Expectations. I love teaching and mentoring young people not just for a quick hot second but for years. 

Question: We are all leaders and all great leaders have been vulnerable and made mistakes. Describe a time where you made a mistake. How did you recover from that mistake? How did you ensure that you did not make the same mistake twice?

Meet Isaiah Hudson, Senior Bonner Intern

Isaiah Hudson is a rising Senior, economics with a minor in fashion merchandising and sales here at Morehouse College. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Isaiah is a big The Ohio State University and LeBron James fan. 

During his time at Morehouse College, he has served within the bonner program as freshmen class coordinator, chief compliance officer, and now the senior bonner intern. As a bonner scholar, he as been volunteering at KIPP Strive Primary school, coordinating and implementing community service initiatives, and serving the program as a whole.

Besides his interest in community, Isaiah interests in fashion, media, and economics have given him the opportunity to intern at Coca-Cola, NBCUniversal, and Apple. Isaiah believes that internships are vital for all Morehouse students continuing past their undergraduate studies. Isaiah remembers a quote from a family friend, "Internships are just that internships it allows you to see what you want to do and what you do not want to do".

Meet Quinton Jenkins, Chief Compliance Officer

Brief Bio

 I am Quinton Jenkins, a Senior Biology major with a minor in Public Health at Morehouse. I have been apart of the Bonner program since beginning my matriculation at Morehouse. My career aspirations are to attend medical school and enter an Emergency medicine speciality. I plan to use my advanced training to better understand how health disparities disproportionally affect minority communities and combine it with my experience, skill set, and professional education to close the gaps in health disparities between citizens in the United States and abroad.

Welcome to the Exciting World of Community Engagement at Morehouse College!

The Bonner Office of Community Service (BOCS) seeks to utilize its resources to develop and encourage volunteerism. It is our wish to perpetuate a culture of service on our campus that will strengthen our resolve to be accountable as leaders, with the desire to be stewards of positive social change.

Students and others of the Morehouse College family know that the path they walk in service extends beyond the classrooms and/or offices of the Atlanta University Center. Through the efforts of the Bonner Office of Community Service, Morehouse College better fulfills her mission of "developing men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership, service, and self-realization…"   

Community service-minded individuals on our campus can identify themselves as a "unified force for good." "What serves to unite us, above all else, is our commitment to ourselves and to blazing a path that will make the way easier for those who come behind us. We espouse service as a way of life, as the rent we pay for living, and not something to do in our spare time."
