My name is Charles Porch III, a junior business management major at Morehouse College. I was born and raised in Lithonia, Georgia and graduated from Abrabia Mountain High School in 2016.
As a bonner, I have the pleasure to serve at M. Agnes Jones Elementary School and this is my second year as the Freshmen Class Coordinator.
For this upcoming year I plan to work with the freshmen class to come up with new servicee ideas that will leave an impact on larger scale.
Question: How would your best friend describe you?

This is always one of the hardest kind of questions, to describe your myself. It’s even more difficult trying to express how someone perceives me through their perspective. I wouldn’t say that I have a best friend either. But, whoever that I am closest to would always recognize the genuine characteristics that I obtain. Anyone close to me knows this, I am also honest and laid back. I barely talk when I’m around people I don’t know, but I could have deep conversations with any one of my friends/brothers. I think it’s hard to describe some else’s perspective.
Throughout my four years of high school my best friend has always been there for me. She has always constructively criticized me, uplifted me, and constantly prayed for me. I feel if there is any one outside of my family that knows me well it would be her. I have a pretty good idea of how she would describe me but instead of using my own words I had her send me a message of how she would describe me and here it is. "You are very outgoing and friendly! If someone you are talking to runs out of things to say, you always have the rights words to say to keep a conversation going! You’re genuine when it comes to people and your friends and you have our best interest at heart! Also, you have a strong passion for your goals and beliefs. You wish nothing but success for other people and want to help people in the best way you can so they can strive towards success. You’re the kind of guy everyone needs in there life!" Those were the exact words of my best friend and I am so lucky to have this person in my life.
(Jahi Flowers) If my best friend where given the chance to describe the essence of my being it would be either a long scripted dissertation about every aspect of who I am or it would be a simple but concise answer. To the best of my belief I that he would probably describe me as very passionate but also very stubborn due to me always wanting to see things through the finish no matter the obstacles. He would also go into great detail about how I always seem to think deeply about things (no matter how small the situation or circumstance). While also discussing how despite the events in my life, I care about people deeply. And to this day I can still remember him asking , “ Bro, you really like to think don’t you? While that’s alright because in this day in age we need people who aren’t afraid to think about stuff.” Even after years of knowing him I still remember how much that made my day.
My best friend and I have been friends since she signed me up to be in our high school’s production of The Wiz. To this day we still laugh at how I had to play five different roles and changed costumes in the wings because one of my characters was always on stage. When I asked her to describe me she gave me three words that I honestly think all of my friends would agree with; honest, caring, and hilarious. I believe she says I’m honest because I can never keep my feelings or thoughts to myself. I have been known to confront any issue or person and be very straightforward. The word caring stood out to me because what she sees as caring to me is just being a good friend. I’m always trying to be a listening ear and take care of my friends. Now I’m not sure if she said I’m hilarious because I’m actually funny or because I’m a klutz. I once fell down the last tier of stairs at the Smithsonian of Natural History and landed in the same pose as Michael Jackson’s Thriller cover. Those three words aren’t adjectives that I would use for everybody I encounter, so I’m pretty honored to receive that and hope that you all will think the same once this school year starts.
My best friend, including my peers all, describe me as a funny and playful person, but at the same time, I am success driven. He would describe me as a quiet person, but yet a social person. I know I do not talk a lot because I am very observant, and I like to observe and analyze things before I make decisions. I like solving problems, but I enjoy collaborating because more opinions and minds can lead to a solution much quicker. My closest friends would describe me as: funny, caring, quiet, intelligent, determined or witty, and there would be times that I would consistently show these characteristics.
My best friend would describe me as loyal, hardworking, adaptable, passionate, and extroverted. They would say that my loyalty translates past just day to day interactions but through my actions in the community and scholastically. They would also say my hardworking mentality, adaptibility, and passion towards everything is very helpful in group situations and successful completion of tasks. My extroverted nature helps me converse and collaborate well in group settings. These traits my best friend would describe me as are traits I strive to be daily.
All of my friends, even ones that I have just met would all describe me as incredibly inquisitive, I love questioning, arguing and debating. I have also been described as somewhat disorganized but still reliable when someone truly needs me. Many people have also described me as wise beyond my years. My peers have also stated that I can be confident, bordering on conceited in places where I feel comfortable like a classroom, but very awkward and unsure of myself when in situations that are new to me.
I often think about this question and assumed what she would say. Instead of assuming I asked and these were her words; “ if I had to describe you I would be that you are a caring person and when you truly care about things you are passionate about, you have determination, and when you start a task you make sure you execute it to the best of your ability. You just have this spirit that make others want to be in your presence. You know how to joke but also know when it’s time to handle business. Overall Just a great person to be around.”
I tend to connect with people who are closer in personality with me. Because of this, my best friend would probably describe me, just as he would describe himself. Intelligent and confident, with an okay sense of humor, but overall, just a versatile and all-around good person. He would say that I try to surround myself with positivity and that I lead with pride but also know when to follow.
